For this recipe, you will need a 1-gallon jug with a tight-fitting, screw-on lid to prevent leaking and loss of carbonation.
2 quarts warm water
1 3/4 cups honey
1 1/2 ounces root beer extract
1/4 teaspoon dry bakers yeast
warm water to fill jug
Fill a 1-gallon jug half full with warm water. Add honey, rootbeer extract, and dry yeast. Swirl the jug until the honey, extract, and yeast are completely blended. Add enough warm water to fill the jug to 1/2 inch from the top. Carefully rotate the jug to mix the ingredients. Then cap it tightly. Lay the jug on its side in about 70 degree’s F. for 24 hours. (I wrap the jug in a towel in case the jug leaks or should break.) Refrigerate until it is cold.
